Antonio Nicola Ciervo

Antonio Nicola Ciervo, born 1953, architect, after a long lasting working experience in Italy in construction, restoration monuments and  interior design, began a trip along the paths of contemporary art, settling for a part of the year in the South Of France. There, with Chantal Lora, the two architects approached the world of atelier artists, sculptors, souffleurs de verre,, creative and comédiens, ; fascinated by this world, they successively transposed this world and their contacts in their original city, Naples. Then, his personal passion for Painting  « his first love » came out following the influence of his professional path and leading  him to realize on canvas his first acrylic Urban ArchiPainting  works.

« UrbanArchiPainting»,

What is UrbanArchiPainting? It is the vision of the cities through the ideas, the glance and the technique of the architect ; on canvas and other supports, the idea is to reconstruct a renewed urban landscape with its facades, its roofs, its squares and streets, districts, where “colours become heat”,  a world someone has qualified as a “plan of a cartoon city “, a urban bidimensional system where the  main part is voluntarily devolved to structure, connectivity and juxtaposition of shapes and colours, leaving the third dimension to the look, the sensations and the imaginary part of each one. « Vibrant, colourful, contemporary art * “ , this idea about UrbanArchiPainting has been presented in many occasions and exhibitions in Aix en Provence, Cannes, London and Naples, in occasion of Maggio dei Monumenti and of the White Nights with the pseudonym of “Thalès géométries urbaines”.

Artistic path

Antonio Nicola Ciervo offers his knowledge of the structure of cities on the way of art expressing on different noble supports his ideas about plans and city landscapes, urban façades, waterfront, where roofs, domes, windows, streets, gardens and water plans find the forms of architecture and the colours of the sun and of an enthusiastic life ; a research on the adequate forms, where the ideas of art, architecture and urbanism are all melted with the aim of outlining an idea of urban landscape, a kind of « dream of urban life », ideal and colorist, having the desire to become reconciled with urbanism and with the chaos of the modern cities : realizations having fascinating names and interpreting the themes of urban landscape within the bright and striking colours of a contemporary urbanism and of a city where we are pleased to live.

Cities and portions of cities compose the work: the artist wants his work to have surreal colours and signs , painting the constructive geometric and rational structure of the city and of its portions (historic centres, residential districts, factories, suburbs and outskirts,…)  and even the beauty of the no-built landscape, the morphology, the rural-urban relationship, painted as an overview vision, thus connecting  signs and multicoloured forms of the built landscape, almost it would be a “Cartographic painting”.

Percorso artistico
