The Nordic nature and in particular the interaction between light and colour inspires me. My paintings often fall into an interface between early Impressionism and a more abstract form of expression where colour and light are dominating. Born in and resident in Denmark. Graduated from The School of Drawing and Art Industry in Copenhagen (after mergers The School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts). Inger Dorthea Olsen lives and works in Denmark, on Lake Esrum, where her paintings are inspired by changes in light and reflections in the water. In her paintings, mainly in oil but also in watercolour, she always tries to make light penetrate, whether they are abstract paintings or representations of nature which are often mixed. After her participation in the Florence Biennale 2011, Olsen has been represented in Europe Art Fairs for several years from 2012 by Monteoliveto Gallery, and her works exhibited in international Art Fairs in Aix en Provence (France), 2012, 2013, 2014, Stockholm (Sweden), 2013 and 2014, Milan (Italy), 2015, Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 2015, Nice (France), 2016 and Lausanne (Switzerland), 2019. In September 2020 her works will be again exhibited at the 15th edition of the Art Fair in Aix en Provence (France).
In Denmark Inger D. Olsen participates to many art events such as “Women and Art”, Zonta Hilleroed; Kunstrunden, Nordsjaelland; Fuglsanghus, Hoersholm; Galleri Langes Magasin, Frederikssund; Galleri X-Porten, Hundested..
