For the opening of the new artistic season 2023/2024 in Napoli, the Monteoliveto Gallery has decided to re-open the doors of its Home Gallery with the exhibition “Neapolitan dialogues”. From November 20, 2023 to January 17, 2024, the artworks of 6 artists selected by the gallery will be exhibited. The assumption is to present and create a dialogue between the artist with our Neapolitan audience, made of friends, artists, art lovers and professionals and of collectors, that follow us during our weekly events. The Neapolitan scene is, in this moment in ascension and very dynamic with an effervescent mix of international tourists and active locals, always attracted to the new artistics events in town. So this is the right moment to exhibit here
Per l’apertura della nuova stagione artistica 2023/2024 a Napoli, la “Monteoliveto Gallery” ha deciso di riaprire le porte della sua Home Gallery con la mostra “Neapolitan Dialogues/Dialoghi Napoletani”. Dal 28 novembre 2023 al 17 gennaio 2024, saranno esposte le opere di 6 artisti selezionati dalla galleria. Il presupposto è quello di presentare e creare un dialogo tra gli artisti e il pubblico napoletano ma anche un dialogo metaforico tra le opere.
Gli artisti che andranno a riempire gli spazi della Home Gallery saranno internazionali, italiani e napoletani. Questo andrà anche a creare un legame e un dialogo tra le varie scene artistiche toccate dalla Monteoliveto Gallery e porterà la Napoli ancora una volta al centro dell’arte contemporaneo internazionale. Durante questo evento, quindi, il napoletano Antonio Conte lancerà il suo grido d’aiuto verso l’emergenza climatica, con una forte vena caustica, quasi cinica mentre le opere dell’olandese, Fred Couprie, ci trasporteranno nel suo mondo onirico fatto di danza, arte e musica che si vede e si può quasi toccare.
Gianmaria Giannetti, artista e poeta italiano, ci presenterà i suoi vari mondi ideali nei quali spesso i nostri ricordi e la memoria artistica collettiva (come le tele dei grandi maestri) sono invasi dalla sua espressione. Espressione che è la base dei volti creati, dipinti, fissati su tela dalla francese Alissa Thor, volti che ci guardano, ci salutano, ci interrogano insomma ci provocano qualcosa di bello, brutto o neutro ma in ogni caso smuovono qualcosa in noi, a volte senza neanche accorgercene.
Il pittore americano di origini belga, Max Werner, ci fà scoprire il nostro mondo sotto la sua particolare lente dotata di un iperrealismo estremo quasi utopico e paradossalmente leggermente surreale. Infine l’inglese David Whitfield ci permette di viaggiare verso un universo in cui visi e linee s’incontrano, si sovrappongono e lasciano libera la nostra immaginazione di creare l’interpretazione che più ci sembra giusta.
Insomma un vero dialogo artistico che non vediamo l’ora di lanciare e di approfondire anche durante i nostri settimanali “Bicchieri d’Arte”, in cui ospiteremo alcuni degli artisti in mostra ma anche artisti, non in mostra, che ci permetteranno di allargare il dialogo. David WHITFIELD
Born a long time ago in the North East of England studying at Sunderland College of Art. To support myself, I took many jobs, mostly in cartography, land surveying and later for many years as a qualified psychiatric nurse before retiring at the age of 55 to concentrate fully on art. Throughout I drew and painted, illustrating books published by Heron(Steinbeck, Wheatley, Graves, Iliad) and exhibited in Manchester, london, Scotland and USA. My work at this time was in the surrealistic style using an airbrush and inks.Within the last few years I felt my work did not develope becoming stranded in technical expertise and lacking an emotive truthfulness. So I changed the medium to water colour and brush,; and this more freer fluid medium was reflected in the more expressive style I wished for away from the more exact, tight, controlled style inherent in surrealism…….
Max WERNER
Max Werner was born in Ghent, Belgium and he studied at the Slade School of Art in London. He taught printmaking in the UK and worked in the Art House Gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina and currently resides in the USA.
Fred Couprie
Fred Couprie (1948-2017), a Dutch painter born in The Hague, studied at the KABK (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in the same city. After completing his studies he started as an art teacher in High School.

Gianmaria GIANNETTI
Gianmaria Giannetti is graduated in aesthetic philosophy and his imaginary worlds and two dimensional universes come directly from his singular mind.
Born in Milan in 1974, he lives and works between Bari and Finale Ligure. Experimental artist, he uses a very personal mixture of various languages in new ways of expression, creating parallel universes, alternative escape routes to the normal logic of things.
Through a series of symbols and signs, with a new ironic and limitless rigor as a child’s dream, he uses writing to enrich and minimize the message of his work, to take us beyond the reality of stereotypes and find a freedom through art.
Little figurines definitely less anthropomorphic, a painting maze trying to escape inevitably to a “where” that is a “when” or a “why”? His little anthropomorphic men, more similar to eggs than men, as well as strange characters filiform with a big balloon head like aliens invite us to abandon symbols, interpretation grids, coded images…………
Alissa THOR
Née à Paris en 1974, cette autodidacte vit à Paris et travaille à Rouen. Elle a fait des études de Lettres et de Philosophie et est devenue documentaliste à l’Éducation Nationale pendant 12 ans. Depuis 2011, elle se consacre exclusivement à la peinture et à l’écriture (poésie). Longtemps « intello » et prenant plaisir à manier les abstractions, j’ai eu le besoin radical de rompre et de me confronter directement à la matière : prendre la vie, par l’autre bout si l’on veut. Dès lors, la peinture, et plus particulièrement l’huile, a été le terrain d’expérimentation idéal : agir et agir instinctivement… trouver son souffle, son rythme, son corps. Là où en poésie il s’agit de peaufiner, ici il faut « s’arrêter » à temps : suppression ou ajout, rendre papable en rajoutant ou non… une couche. L’expressionnisme est naturellement le mouvement qui me « parle » le plus……….
